In a desolate post-apocalyptic future where water and gasoline are the most precious resources, the world has collapsed into tribal warfare under tyrannical warlords. Max Rockatansky, once a highway patrol officer, now roams the wasteland as a haunted loner trying to survive. When he is captured by the War Boys — fanatical followers of the despotic Immortan Joe — Max is reduced to a living blood bag, chained to the front of a pursuit vehicle.
Everything changes when Imperator Furiosa, one of Joe’s most trusted war captains, goes rogue during a routine supply run. Hidden inside her massive War Rig are Joe’s five “wives” — young women kept as breeding stock — who Furiosa is smuggling to freedom across the desert to the fabled “Green Place” she remembers from childhood. Joe unleashes his entire army in pursuit, triggering a breathtaking chase across the Namibian desert.
Max, freed from his chains during the chaos, reluctantly joins forces with Furiosa and the wives. What follows is an unrelenting 120-minute vehicular war ballet featuring flame-throwing guitars, pole-swinging warriors, sandstorms, and some of the most spectacular practical stunt work ever committed to film. Director George Miller returned to the franchise he created 36 years earlier and delivered what many critics call the greatest action film ever made.
