Anastasia Tremaine: Cinderella’s stepsister across Disney films
Anastasia Tremaine is one of Cinderella’s stepsisters in Disney’s Cinderella. The younger sister of Drizella and daughter of Lady Tremaine, she begins as part of the household that humiliates Cinderella. Later animated sequels give her a different emotional direction.
Anastasia in the 1950 animated film
Anastasia and Drizella share their mother’s envy and entitlement, but their comic awkwardness distinguishes them from Lady Tremaine’s calculated control. Their attempts to impress the prince depend on status and appearance rather than the kindness that defines Cinderella. Anastasia is usually associated with pink and red costuming, in contrast to Drizella’s green.
Why the sequels change her story
Cinderella II: Dreams Come True gives Anastasia a romance with a baker and a reason to question her mother’s social ambitions. Cinderella III: A Twist in Time develops the conflict between obtaining a desired life through manipulation and wanting to be loved honestly. These are developments in the animated sequel continuity, not events shown in the original film.
Animated and live action versions
Holliday Grainger plays Anastasia in the 2015 live action Cinderella. That version should be considered separately from the animated sequel arc; sharing a name does not mean every scene or relationship transfers across adaptations. Compare the release year when searching for a specific performer, costume or character moment.
