Grimm Reboot: Reported Development, Cast and Release Status

The Grimm reboot was reported in development at Peacock in January 2025. That report describes a proposed feature-length return to the fantasy-police world, rather than an already released seventh season. The sources reviewed for this guide do not establish a confirmed release date, final cast or completed film.

What was reported about the new Grimm project?

Variety’s January 2025 report identified Josh Berman as writer and executive producer, with original series showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf among the returning executive producers. It also named Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner. These are development attachments: they do not establish that filming has finished or that every member of the original cast will return.

Contemporaneous TVLine reporting described discussion about the project’s form. That distinction matters when comparing headlines: “reboot,” “movie” and “new series” can be used around the same early proposal without proving that separate productions have been ordered.

Does the reboot have a release date or confirmed cast?

No release date or final performer list is established by the cited development reports. A poster using an invented year, an original-series cast photograph or an unofficial trailer is not equivalent to a Peacock release announcement. Treat a specific date as unconfirmed unless it can be traced to a current broadcaster or production announcement.

How it differs from the original six seasons

The original Grimm follows Portland detective Nick Burkhardt, played by David Giuntoli, as his police work intersects with Wesen and his inherited Grimm identity. Peacock’s existing programme listing identifies six seasons and credits Giuntoli, Russell Hornsby and Reggie Lee. That catalogue is the original programme; it should not be presented as a page for a newly released reboot.

Returning to the first season is the clearest way to learn the central mythology. Searching only for a final-season clip or a speculative reboot recap can reveal later developments without explaining how Nick’s ordinary investigations first intersect with the supernatural.

Where to check genuine updates

Use the official Peacock Grimm listing for the existing series, and look for a separately dated announcement for any new production. This status guide was reviewed on 19 October 2026; development can change after that date. Browse TV series guides for other programmes.
