The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026)

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026) is an animated family adventure film. Mario and Luigi’s Mushroom Kingdom adventures expand into a journey through space. Yoshi, Rosalina and Bowser Jr. join a story that takes the familiar Nintendo characters beyond their usual surroundings.

Cast and filmmakers

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The featured cast includes Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Brie Larson.

Story, context and what to watch first

This animated sequel follows The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Chris Pratt voices Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy voices Peach and Charlie Day voices Luigi. The film is separate from gameplay videos of the Super Mario Galaxy games; check that a viewing result is the 2026 feature rather than a game walkthrough.

From the Mushroom Kingdom to space

The sequel expands the setting instead of simply repeating the first film’s introduction to Mario’s world. Rosalina and Bowser Jr. connect the space adventure to recognisable parts of Nintendo’s wider cast. Universal lists the film at 1 hour 39 minutes, rated PG in the United States for action, mild violence and rude humour; local classifications can differ.
