Coronation Street cast: familiar characters and their actors
Coronation Street’s cast spans generations of families, neighbors and colleagues in Weatherfield. This guide matches familiar characters to their performers and explains how to find the cast of a particular episode. It is a selected introduction; ITV’s character directory is the source for the changing wider ensemble.
Long-established Weatherfield characters
William Roache plays Ken Barlow, Sally Dynevor plays Sally Metcalfe, Michael Le Vell plays Kevin Webster and David Neilson plays Roy Cropper. These characters connect current stories with decades of community history. A changed married surname can make older clips look confusing: the same character may be credited under a previous name.
The Platts and other familiar families
Jack P. Shepherd plays David Platt and Ben Price plays Nick Tilsley. Jane Danson plays Leanne Battersby and Georgia Taylor plays Toyah Battersby. Alan Halsall plays Tyrone Dobbs. Family relationships and shared workplaces often bring several storylines together, so identifying one character can help locate an entire strand of episodes.
Current appearances and guest performers
A character profile confirms an actor-character pairing, but does not promise an appearance in tonight’s episode. New arrivals, departures and returns can change the credited group. Use ITV’s directory and the specific episode credits when you need a current guest actor, rather than a historical all-time cast list. This page preserves a useful selected reference without treating a decades-long ensemble as a fixed small cast.
